My Favorite Hymns

I have two favorite hymns, with a few following close behind. The first is Be Thou My Vision. This song became dear to me after singing it in choir. I will always like it.
The second is In Christ Alone. This song I have just recently learned, in church. I love it. It sounds wonderful with our small church singing it on Sundays. I wish Aaron played it every Sunday. :)

In Christ Alone
by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all-
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid-
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine-
Bought with precious blood of Christ.

No Guilt in life, no fear in death-
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home-
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

The last four lines are my favorite.

Tasha Tudor's {belated} Birthday

Yesterday has come and gone. I did not celebrate quite as much as others did, *smiles*. We were re-organizing our books, which took quite some time. I did flip through her book "The Tasha Tudor Book of Fairy Tales." I just adore her artwork! Even the simplest little drawing.

We also have this book, and this book, which I really like.

Tasha Tudor

Tomorrow is Tasha Tudor's birthday. In remembrance of her, I am going to read some of her stories to my younger brothers, and once more gaze upon her lovely artwork. I can't say that I have a favorite artist, but if I had to choose one off the top of my head, I would choose Tasha. Go here http://storybookwoods.typepad.com/storybook_woods/ for more info about Tasha Tudor Day.

Sunday Psalm

Each Sunday at our church, Pastor Patrick reads a Psalm or two. This Sunday he read Psalm 100, 101, and 102.

Psalm 100

"Sing ye loud unto the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyfulness. Know ye even the Lord is God; he hath made us, and not we ourselves: we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with praise, and into his courts with rejoicing: praise him and bless his Name. For the Lord is good: his mercy is everlasting, and his truth is from generation to generation."

Quilting

I am not a quilter, but would like to be. Here is a helpful article about making quilts for less! http://fruit-of-her-hands.blogspot.com/2008/08/quilting-idea.html

Most-Addicting-Dessert

These "brownies" are the best ever! When I need to take dessert somewhere, I will take these, as they are always a hit.

Blondies
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup butter - melted and cooled
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Mix together flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder, nuts in a bowl and set aside.
In separate bowl, mix butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and chocolate chips.
Slowly add in the dry mixture, mixing well with each addition. Pour batter into a lightly greased, 13x9x2 pan. Bake @ 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Yummy!

my blog name

Okay, so you might think my blog name, A Bowery Hollow, is a little odd. I think it's pretty. But whatever. :) I have a friend whom I write letters too, and she writes me back (sometimes! JK.). The mail people,if they even notice, probably think we are insane. We write all sorts of fun stuff on the envelope, and call each other by ridiculous, funny names. "Ashley of Bowery Hollow" is one I made for myself, and I called my friend "Emmy of Buttercup Dale". So that is what my blog name is all about.
